Bang, pop, boom! Excited, intrigued and curious ‘scientists’ whizzed into school for an amazing ‘Super Science Day’. The children enjoyed a fantastic day of explosive experiments as the theme was ‘Explosions!’ it was a day full of surprises!
A team from ‘Mad Science’ started the day with a fantastic Science Show – including demonstrating dragon’s breath and smoke. After the show, each year group had their own workshops where the children created ‘explosions’ and were even able to make the bungs pop out of the test tubes!
After their year group workshop, each class was able to continue with special investigations to really get the grey matter working. Then the whole school explored the ‘eggciting’ egg challenge where some children investigated different properties of eggs (Kittens, Kindergarten and Year One), others found out how to keep Humpty Dumpty safe, (Reception and Nursery) and Year Two had to design a way to keep an egg from breaking when dropped from a great height by their teachers. Three eggs were successfully dropped and many only cracked a little bit!
Whilst the rest of the school continued with their investigations, Year Two had a wonderful visit to the Prep School Science labs hosted by Mr Fraine, the Prep School Head of Science. It was a wonderful day and there are definitely some budding scientists of the future amongst the Pre-Prep children!
