This half term in Fourth Form Drama lessons pupils have been focussing on vocal expression. They studied the various different parts of the voice and practised reading the short story The Tell Tale Heart, a gothic tale by Edgar Allen Poe, altering the component parts of vocal expression, and reflecting on how this changed the meaning of the words for the audience. This work culminated in the pupils going away to perform and record a short piece of the story themselves. They then edited their readings together with a few gothic sound effects, and the result is very unnerving indeed, for all the right reasons. The two classes worked hard on this project and we are very proud of the final result.
