Tocelebrate the start ofChinese New Year, Year One was bursting with bright beautiful costumes as the children came to School dressed in the traditional colours of red and gold.In the morningassembly, the children learnt thatthis yearis the Year of the Monkey and the story behind the naming of each Chinese New Year. Pupils then spent the day finding out more about Chinese customs and traditions and taking part in some practical activities such as: cooking and eating stir fried vegetables,making beautiful dragon masks and trying out Chinese writing.

Dr Shelley, Headmistress of the Pre-Prep said, “Year One have had a wonderful day experiencing and learning about Chinese New Year. Understanding and learning about other cultures is so important in the world today; this is an exciting way for children to learn and appreciate Chinese New Year first hand and have lots of fun too!”
