General notices

Information from Mr J. Gould (Academic Director) explaining Parents’ Evenings for Year 6 and Year 7 (Year 6 and Year 7 Parents)

Next week there are two Parents’ Meetings: one for Year 6 on Tuesday 30th April and one for Year 7 on Thursday 2nd May. Both will be in the Centenary Hall from 5.30-7.15pm.

The aim of these is to give verbal feedback on the progress of your child and a chance to discuss the Target Report which came out at the end of last term.

We are aware that for some parents, particularly those who live abroad, it can be difficult to make these meetings. If you would like to find out how your child is doing via email, then please let the Form or House tutor know before the meeting that you cannot attend; they will then take feedback from each member of staff and send you an email with this information.

We encourage Year 6 pupils to attend. Supervision will be provided for siblings and Year 6 children not attending. We do expect Year 7 pupils to come, whenever possible, to take ownership of and responsibility for their academic performance.

In Year 6, we encourage parents to meet all their child’s teachers. In Years 7 and 8 there is a slightly different system. Upon arriving you will be given a booklet with the teachers’ names. Any who particularly want to see you, either because there is a particular issue or learning misconception that needs addressing or because they want to celebrate success, will have an asterisk by their name. You are most welcome to meet all your child’s teachers but can assume those without an asterisk are happy with your child’s current effort and progress. This system means teachers and parents will have more time to discuss key issues.

Exeat Pick Up Friday 3rd May (all parents)

Friday 3rd May is an Exeat for the whole community. All parents are warmly invited to attend our Chapel Service that begins at 2.45pm in the School Chapel. Pupils may leave for Exeat straight after Chapel which should be from 3.35pm.

In order to ease congestion at the front of school any pupils along with their siblings may be picked from the Chapel. Pupils should be signed out by House Staff from the Old Gym. Pupils being picked up from here will have been asked to take all their belongings to take home with them which will be stored until pick up. If you are using the option of picking up after Chapel please could you inform the Day/Boarding Houses.

All other pupils will be taken back to DCPS and can be signed out from houses from 3.45pm. On Exeat weekends we ask that all pupils be picked up by 5.00pm.

Parking on Exeats can be very hard, therefore to help with parking we would also like to suggest the following options:

  1. There is parking available on the tennis courts by the Bacon Theatre and by the astro turf pitches.
  2. Sports Hall
  3. Shelburne Road and Hatherley Court Road (please be considerate to residents by not blocking driveways).

Match Fixtures (week 2)

We are only sending match details in our weekly clarion. Team sheets, pitch location and further information can be accessed using the password DCPSsport2018 on the sports section of the School website http://www.deancloseprepsport.org.uk/
