Academic Information (all parents)

Please click here to access a document from Mr Jonathan Gould, Director of Teaching and Learning, explaining the End of Year Assessments and Revision Plan at Dean Close Preparatory School.

Music Information (all parents)

Unfortunately, as many parents are aware, Mr Tim McVittie is currently away from school due to illness. During his absence, matters involving the Music department are being ably covered by Mrs Anita Godley (Assistant Director of Music). Any queries on departmental matters should be directed towards her as a first instance (akgodley@deanclose.org.uk) . We all wish Mr McVittie a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back at school in the next few weeks.

House Music Competition Popular Music and Ensemble Auditions (all parents)

These auditions will not take place during class music lessons this year. Instead, pupils wishing to audition on drums, guitar, ‘pop’ singing, bands and any ensemble are asked to sign up on the lists outside the music department office in Hardy. The audition times will be Tuesday 7th May, Thursday 9th May, Friday 10th May from 7.50-8.20a.m in Hardy Room 1 (Mrs Godley’s classroom) and Saturday 11th May 7.50-8.50a.m in Hardy Room 1 (Year 6-8 only).

The finals of this competition will take place in the Centenary Hall on Friday 17th May and this promises to be an enjoyable day of entertaining and fun music making. We look forward to seeing some of you there.

Swing Band (parents of pupils in DCPS Swing Band)

Unfortunately, we have taken the difficult decision to cancel the Swing Band appearance at the Pre-Prep Quiz evening on Friday 17th May. Many apologies for the inevitable disappointment this will cause, but we look forward to featuring them in the end of year Extravaganza on Friday 28th June.

Ginny Smith Talks@DCPS, Tuesday 7th May 4.30-5.15pm (all parents)

We are thrilled to be welcoming Ginny Smith, (Science Communicator) to school on Tuesday 7th May 2019 at 2.00pm. Ginny is a ‘Science Communicator’ and will be giving an interactive talks@ presentation on ‘Can you believe your brain’ to our Year 6, 7 and 8 pupils.

DCPS and DCS Boarders’ Sibling Teatime Concert followed by tea, Friday 10th May (boarding parents)

Twice a term we provide an opportunity for DCS and DCPS boarding siblings to meet up over a meal and to be together. Every Trinity Term the tea is preceded by a very informal concert where siblings from both schools have an opportunity to perform in front of their peers and siblings. We would also like to take this opportunity to invite any parents to come and watch the concert and share tea with the boarding community afterwards. A programme is being collated and will be sent out by the house parents in their weekly newsletters. To enable us to cater accurately please could boarding parents let the boarding houses know if they are able to attend.
