IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PLEASE REMEMBER – HANDS, FACE, SPACE

  • Please wash your hands regularly with soap and water, and sanitise when you enter and leave a classroom, dining hall, house room (day or boarding)
  • Adhere to the face mask guidance – AS SEE BELOW!
  • It is really important that pupils and staff seek to maintain their 2m distance from one another at all times, when not wearing a mask.

We are expecting all pupils and staff to use their home testing kits twice a week as part of the National asymptomatic testing programme for school pupils. We would be really grateful if parents and guardians could support us in this process by reminding pupils to continue testingAll pupils have been issued with a set of tests, but if they are running out they should ask their Housemaster for a replacement. See below for details of how to perform the tests.

GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE

17 MAY

Pupils will be relieved to hear that following the latest Government Guidance, we are making changes to our school guidelines relating to the wearing of masks. It is vital that pupils adhere to the guidelines outlined below:

MASKS ON

  • Pupils must wear masks on entering all academic buildings
  • Pupils must put on their masks before standing up to leave a classroom
  • Pupils must wear masks while queueing to enter the Dining Hall
  • Pupils must wear masks in the Dining Hall at all times, unless they are sat down.

MASKS OFF

  • Once inside the classroom and sat down, they will be allowed to remove masks
  • Whilst sat down in the Dining Hall
  • Pupils do not need to wear masks inside their House rooms
  • Pupils do not need to wear masks while moving around the campus outdoors.

In summary:

In all buildings apart from House rooms:

STAND UP – MASK UP, SIT DOWN – MASK DOWN

SCHOOL BUS SERVICE

As of September 2021, we will be changing our transport partner for the daily bus service from Eagle Line to Pulhams and Sons.

Pulhams have a lot of experience in school transport and will be implementing a number of improvements to the service including an app that will allow parents to see when their child has boarded a bus and where the bus is in real time as it makes its way along the route.

We will be sharing more information on how to book for September over the next few weeks, but please be reassured that the aim is to keep all of the existing service and add to it rather than removing any existing routes.

Charity Bike Ride

In Memory of Helen Porter

Helen was a Dean Close teacher, Director of Music, tutor, parent and colleague who joined Dean Close in 1987. In the summer of 2019, Helen was diagnosed with cancer before passing away in September 2020. There is a beautiful piece about Helen in this year’s Decanian written by two long standing colleagues and friends. Helen’s husband, Michael, and her daughter Amy (who teaches at DCPS and DCS) are the inspirations behind the Helen Porter Bike Ride from Cheltenham to St Ives that will take place in two groups – one in May and another in July – to remember Helen and raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity. You can read more about their story and show your support HERE.
