Highlights of the Week

  • The Performing Arts have dominated this week amidst the planning for tomorrow’s Speech Day. The Drama Department’s double bill of The Importance of Being Earnest and A Midsummer Night’s Dream was truly uplifting.
  • Tonight’s Summer Music Concert reminded us just how many talented and hard-working musicians we have as they treated us, amongst other things, to Saint-Saens’ The Carnival of the Animals. Do look out for the recording of tonight’s concert which we will publish in due course.

Speech Day: Saturday 26 June

We are really sorry that we are not able to host families from Year Groups other than the Upper 6th, but at least this feels like progress since last year’s online event.

We politely ask that any member of the community who has symptoms or lives with someone in the same household who has symptoms, must not attend Speech Day and must follow the current government advice on self-isolation. It would be most comforting for everyone, if any attendees had taken a LFT in the 48 hours prior to tomorrow’s celebrations.

Parking is on the Railway Courts (GL51 6EP) next to the Day House Village. From there, follow the purple route shown on the map below. See the 3 key points of interest illustrated by the Gold Stars – namely the Art Department, Chapel Close for the Leavers’ Photograph, and the Front of School for the Tour of the New Mathematics, Business & Economics Hub.

Leavers’ Service: Saturday 26 June, 12.30pm

This year’s Leavers’ Service will take place in the Marquee at 12.30pm, which allows us to host a larger number of people than in the Tuckwell Theatre.  Unfortunately, only Upper 6th pupils and their parents are able to attend this event.

This event will be live streamed https://youtu.be/RDAKkv0kiQ4

Dress Code: Formal

Speeches: Saturday 26 June, 3.00pm

Due to current legislation, we are only allowed to host 50% of our normal capacity and it is therefore with regret that we are only able to host Upper 6th parents at this year’s Speech Day.

We will be streaming the event live: https://youtu.be/FsLHQuRCb9g

Dress Code: Formal

Leavers’ Dinner: Saturday 26 June, 7.00pm

Following a meeting with the U6th Ball Committee, the Leavers’ Dinner will take place in the Dining Hall at 7.30pm. It will be preceded by drinks on Tower Lawn at 7.00pm. Live music will be played during the course of the evening, and dinner will be followed by outdoor firepits with further refreshments being served.
