Music Information (all parents)

As you may already be aware from a previous communication, the Leavers’ Concert on Friday 21st June has now been amalgamated with the Battle of the Bands (postponed from Saturday 8th June). Pupils who were unable to compete in the Popular Music Competition, due to the clash with the National Hockey Finals, have also been invited to perform at this concert.

We would like pupils to wear non-uniform, smart concert dress for the first half of the concert (6.30-7.15pm approx.), with those Year 8 pupils who need to, changing into their various costumes for Battle of the Bands during the interval. There will be light nibbles during the interval.

Pupils are free to go home to change after school and for a bite to eat and can then return for the start of the concert at 6.30pm. However, if this poses a logistical problem, we are happy to order a school supper for any pupils who will need one, but will need you to let us know this, so we can order them. If you require your child to stay in school for supper, please email akgodley@deanclose.org.uk as soon as possible and by Tuesday 18th June, at the latest.  Boarding pupils will be catered for as normal.

We are looking forward to seeing lots of you at what promises to be a lively and entertaining concert.

Charity Cake Sale

On Saturday 22nd June during Sports day, there will be a fantastic cake sale, raising funds for Family Space and Winston’s Wish. Please bring your cake donations to the Art room as you arrive in school on 22nd June.

Our other charity fundraising events throughout the year have been wonderfully supported by our school community and we would encourage everyone to help with this event also by making, baking and bringing in cake on Sports Day.

If any parents would like to offer to help on the day and help run the stall, please let Mrs Hunt or Mrs Sutherland know.

Any questions, please contact alhunt@deanclose.org.uk or lasutherland@deanclose.org.uk

Final charity event of the year

Every week at Family Space, our chosen charity for this year, families who are struggling to buy even the basics for their young children will ask for nappies. To help meet this need, we are going to help boost their supply by collecting as many packs of nappies as we can. Pupils will be encouraged to bring into school a pack of babies nappies (for any weight) during the week running up to Sports Day. These will be collected in Houses and on the morning of Sports Day laid out to form the shape of a long jump sandpit and run up. Please help us to fill the ‘nappy pit’ and be able to donate a significant number of packs of nappies and help make a difference to those less fortunate than ourselves.
