Dean Close Choral Society: recruiting adult singers now!
Dean Close Choral Society is open to everyone – parents past, present and future; staff, past and present; governors; Old Decanians – indeed, anyone connected or unconnected with the schools.
There are no auditions, though being able to sing and read music is perhaps desirable, as well as availability to rehearse on Tuesdays for an hour from 7.00pm.
On Friday 9 November 2018, Remembrance weekend, and the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice, the Choral Society will perform Karl Jenkins’, The Armed Man, at Tewkesbury Abbey as part of the Dean Close Foundation’s Great War tributes. Pupils from Dean Close Senior and Prep Schools and from St John’s on the Hill will be involved. Adult members of Choral Society rehearse on Tuesdays 7pm-8pm in the Prince Michael Hall at Dean Close beginning on Tuesday 11 September.
Please come to the Prince Michael Hall on Tuesday 11 September at 7pm if you would like to sing. We are in particular need of sopranos and tenors, but all singers will be most welcome. If you are intending to come along, please let Sylvia Klemz know by Saturday 1 September so that there are enough copies of the music for the rehearsal – email@example.com.
Gum Shield Fitting: Thursday 6 September
At Dean Close, gum shields are compulsory items whenyour son or daughter is playing rugby and hockey. If you would like for your son or daughter to be fitted with a gum shield by Opro, our new providers, then please do follow the instructions on the attached flyer.
Gum shields vary in cost and the Opro gum shield we are promoting is not a compulsory purchase, but a professionally fitted gum shield is certainly recommend. If you feel that this is not right for your son or daughter at this stage then other options are available at the school shop or local sports shops. This link is provided to ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to have a top quality product that aims to reduce the risk of injuries whilst at Dean Close.
Once you order through the Opro system you will receive a purchase code that you will need when you call Opro to book your son or daughter a time slot for the 6th September. All gum shields will then be delivered to Dean Close and not your home addresses. If you have any questions in this regards please contact Mr Baber-Williams at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Pre-season Training: Hockey and Rugby
