For the third year running the U13 Boys’ Hockey Team made it to the England National Hockey finals. Theyplayed some excellent hockey coming through their group easily, winning over Felsted (6-0), Harrogate (2-0) and KES Southampton (4-0).
As in the previous two years they met Whitgift School in a challenging final. The teamcame back from being a goal down and it looked possible they might win, for the second year running. Unfortunately, the final whistle was blown and the game was settled by penalty flicks. A good save by the Whitgift keeper, meant Whitgift won the trophy.
Director of Sport, John Sutherland commented. “The team were disappointed, it would have been fantastic to bring the trophy back to School for another year. The boys played some excellent hockey and were thrilled to have made it to the finals. Well done everyone!”
Team Captain, Ellis Robson said, “It was such an exciting game, I am so proud of our teamwork and how much we have improved as a side. The boys gave everything!”
The following day, Saturday 14th May, Ellis Robson, Paddy Benson, Lorcan Knox and James Pollard also played for the Cheltenham Hockey Club U14 side, who became National Champions. What an achievement!
