This week we had our first ever virtual sports fixture against Clifton College, Bristol.
This fixture included all year groups at DCPS, and all pupils were set challenges that they could complete at home. The boys had two cricket challenges. One batting challenge presented by Mr Digby, Head of Sport at Clifton and one bowling challenge set by Mr Sutherland. The girls had a cricket and tennis challenge. The tennis challenge was set by Mrs Catchpole, Head of Girls’ Sport at Clifton and one cricket challenge set by Mrs Bailey.
The children all had until Thursday evening to record their best attempt and best score when completing the set challenges. All score submissions had to be verified by video evidence, and then recorded on google documents in order for Dean Close to submit the end results and compare their results to Clifton College pupils competing in the exact same challenges under the same conditions.
The challenges were:
- Bowling Challenge (b)
- Batting Challenge (b)
- Bowling Challenge (g)
- Tennis Tap-down Challenge (g)
George Collingwood and Xavier Law performed particularly well in the bowling challenge, so a big well done to them both, as well as a big well done to everyone that took part.
Unfortunately, Dean Close didn’t win the Virtual Fixture this time, but we are looking forward to the next one!
We hope you enjoy our compilation video of our pupils taking part in the challenges below:
