Another exciting week comes to a close and another exciting week dawns. On Sunday, the Boarders enjoyed a trip to the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham, whilst the U18 girls were battling it out in the West Indoor Hockey Finals. The hockey team once again performed superbly and made it through to the finals, which qualified them for a place in the National Finals. The U15 Rugby team also performed well this week to progress to the next round of their National Competition with a 17-0 victory over Chosen Hill.

The Drama Department have had a busy and stimulating week. On Tuesday, ahead of viewing the final dress rehearsal, 150 eager prep school children, were put through their paces in drama workshops conducted by members of the cast, staff and other helpers. There was a real buzz of excitement. We look forward to tonight’s final performance of Fiddler on the Roof, which has certainly lived up to expectation. Tuesday also saw the hosting of mock medical interviews, in a collaborative venture with pupils from both Dean Close and Cheltenham Ladies’ College. As we enter the final week of term, there are a few changes to the normal routine which are worth noting.

Reading Challenge

The Dean Close Michaelmas Reading Challenge has begun and we want all students to be a part of it!

Doing so is simple: Pupils need to read a book / lots of books and, for each, send in a short book review OR, or in addition, pupils can try their hand at still-life photography and send through their best “bookstagram” photos for us to share!

Prizes will be awarded to the best Junior and Senior Book Review, the best Junior and Senior photograph, and a random winner from our lucky draw. Additionally, the House with the most entries from their pupils will also win £100 to use as they wish!

Reading and Literacy take a strong priority at Dean Close, and we are pleased to once again run such a fun competition to inspire our pupils to read over the Christmas break. The Reading Challenge will close on Friday 13 January, with winners being announced the following week.
