As one might expect, the week leading up to half term has been filled with a variety of activities including rugby fixtures against St Edward’s, Oxford and hockey against RGS Worcester, the Inter House Quiz Competition, Choral Evensong which included our own Chapel Choir alongside the Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum, and a Geography Field Trip to Snowdonia. We were treated to a wonderful production of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons by Dale House, and the Music Department sent us on our way for half term with a wonderful mix of choral, brass and percussion in our Half Term Concert.

Choral Society

The next Choral Society rehearsal will be on Tuesday 8 November at 7.00pm in the Prince Michael Hall. It is not too late to join Choral Society for this year’s performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, and any interested parents are very welcome to come along to rehearsals after half-term.

Christian Activity Holiday (Years 6-13)

For many years DCS has been associated with the Titus Trust / Lymington Rushmore Holidays. They host Christmas House Parties for 6th Form, Easter Revision for 5th, L6th and U6th, and also Summer Activity Holidays (Years 6-13). Many current and former pupils, as well as staff have attended these camps which take place in beautiful prep schools in the south of England.

All parents are warmly invited to a presentation at Bayley House on Sunday 20 November, starting at 5.00pm. The presentation will last about anhour and will include desserts, tea and coffee. Please RSVP to Mr Paul Montgomery (Housemaster of Field House at DCS)at or contact Rev John Ash for more details.

Talk to Sixth Form History Students

Please note that the talk to Sixth Form History Students by Lord Thomas of Swynnerton in the calendar for 10 November has been cancelled due to the unavailability of Dean Close House. We hope to have a new date for this in February.

Pupils Driving to School

If pupils have use of a car, and drive to School at any stage, it is important that details are logged with the School. The School requires written permission from the parents, as well as written permission from parents of any other pupil who is being transported in the car. Please contact Karen Evans on for further details.

Reminder: Firework Display – Sunday 6 November

To coincide with the start of the 2nd half of term, we are celebrating Guy Fawkes Night on Sunday 6 November. This provides a great opportunity to invite the Whole School to this exciting social event. Please see the attached flyer for further details. Admission is Free! It would be great to see lots of people there.
