Last week we had a fantastic World Book Day, as I am sure you can see! Not only did we enjoy dressing up and talking about our favourite characters and books, we held a parade in the hall to admire all the wonderful character costumes we had arrived in!

In addition we were very excited to host the author, Simon James, who has written many wonderful picture books, such as My friend Whale, Dear Greenpeace, Baby Brains and many more! He was very engaging and entertaining, drawing characters from his book as he talked in addition to reading some of his books to the children. The children loved listening to how he had ideas, developed stories and with the Year Two pupils, he even explained how he first started to write and illustrate stories – all from finding a worm, aged just 7! It was wonderful to see some of the original illustrations and to hear how his ideas came to life – maybe some of the authors of the future were in the audience!
