Year One enjoyed an exciting WOW Day finding out about the Channel Islands as part of their topic on the British Isles. It may seem an unusual WOW Day but it was chosen because Miss Scull comes from Jersey and Mrs Shelley lived in Guernsey from the age of 12!
Miss Scull organised a super morning and everyone found out lots of information. The children were divided into three groups with a Channel Islands theme – the cows, the tomatoes and the potatoes! Each group travelled to the islands and completed activities in their Channel Islands booklet. Mrs Shelley enjoyed telling each group about life on the island, Miss Scull informed each group about Jersey and Mr Collier, who has no connection with the islands whatsoever, took responsibility for the smaller islands of Alderney, Herm and Sark.
Everyone had a super time and the children now know lots more about the geography,
history and wildlife of the Channel Islands – and would like to go there on holiday!
