Year One pupils enjoyed a trip to visit the SS Great Britain at Bristol on Wednesday 15th October as part of their topic on Pirates. Everyone took part in a workshop where we experienced toys and activities from the past. It was great fun wearing a range of headwear from the time Isambard Kingdom Brunel designed his famous ship. Later we enjoyed a tour of the ship and found out what it was like to travel first, second and third class. It was interesting to see the diversity of accommodation that the passengers and crew would have experienced and how small the bunks were to sleep their Victorian travellers.

It was a very useful experience for the children to take their learning outside the classroom and to explore ship life.
