The Year Two children travelled back in time today to the Victorian era for their year group ‘WOW’ day! They were in awe of the teachers and soon realised that working in silence was preferable having to stand in the corner wearing a dunce’s hat! They started the day by singing the National Anthem and chanting times tables. They then practised their lovely copperplate writing on chalkboards – and decided it was quite hard compared to our cursive style today! They then received a visit from a school inspector and experienced ‘Victorian Drill’ for their P.E. lesson. All hands were checked after washing and the children were reminded that ‘Cleanliness was next to Godliness’. Role play was kept up throughout the day and it was quite eerie just how quiet it was in the Year Two classrooms and corridors! The children had a wonderful day but decided in the end that they preferred being at school in 2020!
