Pupils and staff in Pre-Prep Year One enjoyed an exciting Castle Day as part of the term’s topic on ‘Castles’. Everyone dressed as medieval characters and there was a fine array of lords, ladies, knights, minstrels and dragons. It was great fun for pupils to put their literacy and numeracy skills to the test by completing a number challenge to help a knight find his weapons and taking on the adventure of a ‘knights and castles’ word search.
They enjoyed using the Great Hall to dance to medieval music and going on a quest to find their medieval food – a medieval banquet of chicken, pork, eggs, bread and vegetables, with some delicious jelly and wine (blackcurrant squash!) to follow. Everyone had a magical medieval day, which reinforced the children’s learning and provided a platform for future work.
