Year One enjoyed an exciting day out at the Cotswold Farm Park as part of the topic on ‘Food and Farming’. We saw a cow being milked and found out about what cows eat and how milk is produced. It was great fun to hold some rabbits, guinea pigs, baby chicks and ducks.

Everyone enjoyed a very bumpy tractor ride, which gave us the opportunity to find out about how the farm was used as an open-cast mine for stone over one hundred years ago. We took a walk around the paddocks to see the wide variety of rare and unusual farm animals, which the children enjoyed feeding and stroking. The children developed their teamwork skills by working in groups to find clues about rare breeds in a maze.

The entire day was extremely rewarding and linked very well to the work the children had covered in the classroom.
