Dean Close has a reputation for being exceptional at hockey, with several pupils going on to represent Great Britain. Who knows there could be several future England players amongst our Year Two team, who recently played Cheltenham College in a friendly tournament! The teams enjoyed some super games on the Dean Close Astro-pitches, with proud parents and friends cheering them on. During the afternoonthe children played in5 mini-matches, experiencing what it is like towork as a team, defend and attack against 5 different groups. For many of the children this was their first experience of a hockey match – and they were able to put into practice the super skills they have been learning throughout the term in their games lessons.

It was a fantastic afternoon demonstrating some impressive hockey and with
a very supportive and enthusiastic atmosphere. After the matches finished
friends, family, staff and players of both teams gathered in the Dean Close
Senior School dining hall for a wonderful match tea.
